Etched Metal Jewelry
Etched Metal Jewelry Workshop
$45 :: 2 hours
In this beginner level workshop students will learn how to etch brass and copper with an easy diy method using muriatic acid, peroxide, and baking soda. You will have the chance to use 3 pieces of brass or copper and use those pieces to create your choice of jewelry (3 necklaces, a pair of earrings and necklace, etc) During this process students will use rubber stamps and/or permanent marker to apply an image in ink on the metal. We will put all the inked pieces into an acid bath until the image is dissolved into the metal. Once the etching is done we will clean and apply a beautiful black patina to highlight the etchings. Then after some simple jewelry assembly of your choice you’ll have your finished etched jewelry!
All materials are provided however students may bring a notebook to take notes and any rubber stamps you might like to use or share. You can save your etched metal and attend one of the soldering workshops to take your pieces even further. Below are examples of some etched pieces that were then used for our soldering workshops!
