I am a Milwaukee artist with a focus in photography and jewelry making. My wall hangings, that incorporate my photographs and jewelry are both processed based, yet have a simple and elegant finished look. I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a BFA in photography. During my last year there I really gravitated towards alternative process photography. I am fascinated with the gel transfer process because it allows me to utilize many skills beyond photography; like painting, printmaking, and fibers. By building up different textures and backgrounds the original photo is transformed creating a three-dimensional piece that brings the photo into a new space and creates a whole new feeling.
I have been making jewelry for years. I like to say it all started with a peach pit. After eating a peach I realized the pit really looked like wood and it was something I wanted to wear as a necklace. The pit’s engravings were very detailed so I paired it with a metal chain to compliment the pit. My jewelry builds off of this concept by incorporating detailed elements and keeping the finished product simplistic looking by using detailed nature, hand painted charms and photograph charms in many pieces. All my jewelry is designed where it can be worn individually or layered with another piece. I enjoy making both wall hangings and jewelry because they are all unique and one of a kind; which as an artist always keeps me interested in every piece.
