Becky's lifelong fascination with ephemera, found objects, and passion for re-purposing is the basis for her art and craft work. On one hand, it disheartens her to see the immense waste that defines our modern lives. On the other hand, garbage in gutters, curbside piles, discarded items from friends and family, and rummage sales provide thrifty art supplies and inspiration for her pieces.
She loves the color combinations, beautiful patterns, and objects that have been worn down by the world so much that they are like little paintings and sculptures themselves - catching the eye, each telling a story of their pasts. The patinas and incidental shapes are often shockingly beautiful – sculptures that the world has randomly forged.
She sees these creations, rescues them, alters them, adding to their history, and casting them out into the world again, so that others can see their beauty too.
